The Genetics Laboratory of Dr. Leslie Lyons at the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine is interested in finding the gene causing dwarfism in Munchkin cats.  A Junior undergraduate student has requested this project for his senior thesis
work in the Animal Biology program.  DNA and pedigrees are needed for the project.  DNA can be collected by buccal (cheek) swabs and sent in the regular mail.  As many closely related cats, extended families, as possible are required.  Swabs and participation in the project can be obtained by sending a message with the subject line: "Munchkin Project" to the Lyons' lab e-mail: felinegenome@ucdavis.edu.  Any questions
regarding the project will also be addressed.
